Twenty minutes from the plane
Kittilä airport is fifteen kilometres down the road. A client can land at midday and be on a snowmobile before dark, which is not true of anywhere further north, and it is the single practical reason Levi sells so easily.
Levi is a village built around a fell and its lift system. The bed count, the restaurants and the number of activity operators are all higher here than anywhere else in Finnish Lapland, so a four-day programme can run without repeating itself. The World Cup slalom in November is the first alpine race of the season and fills the village.
That density is also the drawback. Christmas and New Year book out, and the better properties go six to twelve months ahead for those weeks. A client who wants quiet should go to Ylläs, an hour west, or further north to Inari — we will say so rather than sell them Levi.

Stay, experience, culture, arrive
Ski-in cabins and glass roofs
Private log houses with their own sauna within walking distance of the lifts, a small number of ski-in properties on the fell itself, and glass-roofed cabins in the forest for aurora nights. The ski-in inventory is thin and goes first.
A different day, every day
Downhill skiing on lit pistes, private husky teams, snowmobile routes out onto the open fell, snowshoe walks, ice karting. Levi has enough operators that we can hold two options for the same afternoon and decide on the weather.
Reindeer country
Working herding farms within half an hour of the village. We book direct with the herders, and we do not schedule visits around the spring migration.
The short transfer
Scheduled flights and winter charters into Kittilä from several European cities. Twenty minutes by road to the village, cleared and driven every day of the season. Helicopter transfer is possible and rarely worth it over that distance.

First Snow and the World Cup
Snow is usually reliable from mid-November and the slalom weekend fills the village. Book around it or into it, but do not ignore it.
Polar Night and Christmas
Blue twilight rather than full dark, deep snow, and the heaviest demand of the year. Christmas and New Year at the better properties go six to twelve months out.
Light and Deep Snow
The strongest window. Snow at its deepest, daylight back, and days long enough to run two activities without rushing. April still has snow and twenty hours of light.
Midnight Sun and Ruska
Continuous daylight into August for mountain biking and fell walking, then two to three weeks of autumn colour in September with the first aurora. Very few international clients in either window.
