The Region

Where we operate from

Finnish Lapland is where Nordic Privé began, and it remains the region we cover in the most depth. Rovaniemi is the main gateway with direct winter flights from several European cities; Kittilä serves the western fells and Levi; Ivalo opens the far north around Inari and Saariselkä.

It is a large area, and the parts of it are not alike. The fells of the west suit ski and activity programmes; the eastern forests are quieter and better for aurora and wildlife; the far north is Sámi reindeer-herding country. We place clients according to what they actually want, not what is easiest to book.

When To Go

Finnish Lapland by season

December — January

Polar Night

The sun stays below the horizon in the far north. Long blue twilight, deep snow and the strongest Christmas demand — book early.

February — April

Light and Snow

Snow at its deepest with daylight returning fast. The best combination for activity programmes and still a long aurora window.

June — September

Midnight Sun and Autumn

Continuous daylight in midsummer, then the ruska autumn colour in September. Hiking, paddling and berry season.
