Private Guides & Fixers
The part of a trip clients remember longest, and the hardest thing to book late.
- Where
- All five countries
- Typical lead time
- 2–6 months for senior guides
- Season
- Year-round
- Arranged through
- Named individuals and local operators
We tell you who it is
Clients forget the transfer and the room category. They remember the person who spent three days with them. There are only a handful of senior guides in each region, which is why this line gets booked first.
We book named people wherever we can and tell you who they are. For mountain, glacier and wildlife work we state which qualification the guide holds. Sámi cultural guiding is booked only through Sámi-owned businesses.
What we arrange
Destination guides
A regional specialist for the whole stay, working alongside the driver rather than driving as well.
Specialist guides
Mountain, glacier, wildlife, photography, food and culture. The guide's qualification is named in the quote.
Fixers and production support
Permits, locations, access and local logistics for film shoots, incentive groups and private projects.
Interpreters
For clients meeting local suppliers, producers or officials who need the conversation to go properly.
Limits we state up front
- Qualified mountain and glacier guides are fully booked in season. February to April and July to August need several months' notice.
- Standards vary by country. Iceland and Norway have formal qualification systems; elsewhere it is looser, and we will tell you what we are relying on.
- No amount of money produces a senior guide at short notice. Late requests get whoever is free, and we will tell you if that is what happened.
- Sámi culture is not an activity to slot into a spare afternoon. We book it with Sámi-owned businesses, on their terms and in their season.
