Long drives, dark afternoons

A car and driver is the dullest line on a quote and one of the most important. Distances are long, and in December they are driven in the dark.

We use licensed local companies with winter-equipped vehicles and drivers who work these roads every season. If a client wants commentary as well as transport, we book a guide separately. A chauffeur here drives; the good ones will tell you the same.

What we arrange

Airport and intercity transfers

Met at the gate or the kerb. Flights are tracked, and there is an agreed plan if the time changes.

Car and driver by the day

Car held for the group for a half or full day, waiting time included. Best for a city day or a scenic route with stops.

Multi-vehicle group movement

Several vehicles for larger groups, with luggage and equipment in a separate car where the roads allow.

Winter-specification vehicles

Studded tyres, 4x4 where conditions need it, and drivers used to ice, drifting snow and driving in the dark.

Limits we state up front

Clients regularly misjudge the distances. Put transfer times in the itinerary in hours so there is no surprise.
Winter roads and reindeer on the carriageway slow everything down. Always allow extra time on a winter transfer.
Outside the capitals the choice narrows quickly. In Lapland the best available vehicle is usually a well-kept minivan or 4x4 rather than an executive saloon.
Drivers are not guides. If the client wants commentary, that is a separate person and a separate cost.
