What is actually available
Self-drive works well on Iceland's ring road, the Norwegian coastal routes and the Swedish west coast in summer. For clients who came to drive, a chauffeur just gets in the way.
Available: premium German saloons and estates, well-equipped 4x4s, and in Iceland the heavier modified vehicles. Not available: a supercar in Lapland. Better to say so at quote stage than at the rental desk.
What we arrange
Premium self-drive
Executive saloons and estates from the main airports, delivered to the terminal or the hotel.
4x4 and winter-equipped
Studded tyres, heated seats and screens, and enough ground clearance for the snow. Not optional in a northern winter.
Long-distance and one-way
Pick up in one country and drop in another. Fees and border paperwork are priced in from the start.
Delivery and collection
Car handed over at the lodge, harbour or airstrip instead of at a rental desk.
Limits we state up front
- There is no exotic fleet in the north. It is premium German makes and 4x4s.
- Winter or studded tyres are required by law in winter, and the dates differ by country.
- Iceland's F-roads need a specific vehicle and insurance. Standard rental contracts ban them and the fines are steep.
- One-way and cross-border drop-offs cost real money. We quote them rather than absorb them.
