The UNESCO fjord country — Nærøyfjord and Geirangerfjord, glacier arms, and the Hanseatic wharf at Bergen as the way in.
Four things meet in Bergen and nowhere else: the western end of the Oslo–Bergen railway, the departure port for the coastal voyage north, day-range access to the Sognefjord, Nærøyfjord and Hardangerfjord, and an airport with direct European flights. That is why it earns two nights.
Say the weather thing early. Bergen gets over two hundred rainy days a year. It is part of what the city is, not a failed itinerary, and no programme here should depend on one dry day.
These are also the fjords the big ships visit. Walk Bryggen early morning or in the evening; midday belongs to the cruise passengers. We use private boats, quieter arms like the Hjørundfjord, and properties off the day-visitor route.

Historic fjord hotels, design properties and mountain farms — chosen for outlook and quiet, which usually costs convenience.

Rail to Voss, coach over the Stalheim switchbacks, a battery-electric boat through the UNESCO Nærøyfjord, then the Flåm railway — 20 kilometres and 866 metres of descent in about an hour. Runs year-round, either direction, and works as the link between Oslo and Bergen. Upgrade with a private RIB and the Stegastein platform by car.

Fjord-farmed fish, Hardanger orchards and mountain lamb. Cornelius sits on its own island and the boat out is half the evening.

The Oslo–Bergen line takes about seven hours over the Hardangervidda and is a day out in its own right. Book Komfort; there is no real first class, so set that expectation. Rail one way, fly the other. Coastal ships leave Bergen almost daily and can be used in segments.

Two weeks of orchards in flower along the fjord, waterfalls at full volume, and almost no non-Nordic clients. The most undersold window in southern Norway.
Warmest weather and every route open — also peak season, which we plan around carefully.
Colour through the valleys, cruise traffic gone and the fjords at their quietest with properties still open.
Starting points, not packages. Every programme is rebuilt around the client in front of you.
Oslo two nights, the Bergen railway west, one or two in Aurland or Flåm for the Nærøyfjord, then two or three in Bergen and fly out. No backtracking.

Peaks straight out of the sea, white-sand Arctic beaches and red fishing cabins. The most requested destination in Norway after the fjords, and the one where beds, not demand, are the limit.

The only Arctic city with the infrastructure for a multi-night programme. Aurora above the Lyngen Alps, winter whales in the fjords, and Senja two and a half hours south.

Glacier lagoons, black-sand coast and geothermal country — the most concentrated landscape drive in the North Atlantic.
