Geiranger is on the World Heritage list and the Seven Sisters falls are the picture everyone has seen. It is also where most itineraries make the same mistake: an afternoon, a coach, a photograph, gone. A day and a half to two days is what it takes, and the boat is not optional.
The way in matters as much as the fjord. The descent from the plateau, whether by Trollstigen or the Geiranger road, is forty-five to sixty minutes of genuine experience. We build it as one, not as a transfer with a view.
Winter changes the place entirely. Far fewer people, and the fjord walls with snow on them.
A seventy-five minute classic sightseeing run from June to September, or the two-hour silent electric catamaran introduced for 2026. For a group, Storfjord Hotel runs private cruises. Kayaking and canoeing where the fjord is quiet.
Dropped off by boat below the abandoned mountain farm and walking up. Two to three hours, moderately strenuous, and the best way to see the fjord from inside it instead of across it.
Trollstigen or the Geiranger road, forty-five to sixty minutes of switchbacks off the high ground. Driven slowly with stops, this is a principal experience of the region.
