Spring ski touring from a sailing yacht beneath the Lyngen Alps — summit to sea, with the boat waiting at the bottom.
Sail & ski is the north at its best: a crewed yacht anchors beneath the peaks of the Lyngen Alps or the islands around Tromsø, a certified mountain guide leads the day's ski tour — often from the summit straight back down to the beach — and the boat repositions while everyone eats. New anchorage, new mountain, no transfers.
The season runs roughly March to May: winter snow, spring light and days already long enough to be generous. Late in the season it is possible to ski in the evening sun.
This is genuine ski touring — ascents on skins, off-piste descents — so it suits clients with real touring experience and fitness. The guide sets the terrain to the group, and the weather sets the programme; both are briefed honestly before anything is booked.
Clients need to be able to skin uphill for a few hours. We ask about experience up front — to tailor the ascents. Non-skiers and riders are welcome on the boat.
Storm days happen. Guides re-route, or the group sails instead — the itinerary is built to bend without breaking.
Only a handful of quality yachts run these programmes, and the season is short. Brief us in autumn for the following spring.
